Keeping Everyone Safe at Leamington C&AC

Leamington Cycling & Athletics Club is committed to creating a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all athletes — particularly children and young people. We believe that everyone who participates in athletics at our club has the right to do so in a safe and enjoyable environment, free from harm, abuse or discrimination.

These responsibilities apply to all club members, coaches, officials and volunteers without exception.

Your first point of contact

Club Welfare Officer

Leamington Cycling & Athletics Club has a designated Club Welfare Officer who is the first point of contact for any safeguarding or welfare concern relating to the club.

If you have a concern about the welfare or safety of any athlete — child or adult — please contact Louise directly. All concerns are treated seriously and in complete confidence.

How to report a concern

If you have a safeguarding concern, please follow these steps:

  • In an emergency – If you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 999 immediately. Do not wait to contact the club first.
  • For club-related concerns – Contact Louise Morrey, our Club Welfare Officer, in the first instance. She will advise on the appropriate next steps and can liaise with England Athletics where necessary.
  • If you prefer to report outside the club – Concerns can be reported directly to England Athletics or the NSPCC at any time. You do not need to contact the club first if you feel uncomfortable doing so.
  • For concerns about a coach, official or volunteer These should be reported directly to England Athletics rather than to the club, to ensure complete independence in any investigation.


Photography & Filming at Club Events

Leamington C&AC takes the photography and filming of athletes seriously, particularly regarding images of children and young people. At club-hosted events a photography policy is provided to all participants.

In general the following applies at all Leamington C&AC sessions and events:

  • Photography and filming of athletes is permitted for personal use only
  • Images of junior athletes must not be published on social media or any public platform without the written consent of a parent or guardian
  • Any photographer attending in a professional or semi-professional capacity must make themselves known to a club official before photographing athletes
  • Video recording of coaching sessions requires prior agreement from the lead coach
  • Concerns about inappropriate photography should be reported to the Club Welfare Officer immediately
