your coaching team
Experience at Every Level
Our sprint coaching team brings both coaching expertise and personal competitive experience to every session
covering the full range of sprint distances from 60m to 400m hurdles.

Lin McGreavy
Sprint Coach · 60m–400m · Lin’s Sprint Group
Lin coaches Leamington C&AC’s main sprint group — a friendly, mixed age and mixed ability group covering the full range of sprint distances from 60m to 400m. Sessions are carefully planned around the athletics calendar and include warm-up, sprint drills, block starts, a mix of shorter and longer sprint work, and a cool down.
New athletes complete a four week trial to ensure they can manage the demands of the group. Lin takes athletes from age 13 upwards.
During the winter months the group moves to hill sessions at Newbold Comyn on Sunday mornings, keeping athletes sharp through the off-season.
“We are a friendly, mixed age, ability group. The aim is to help athletes reach their potential athletically and also enhance their life skills socially — time management, teamwork and more.”
Training:
- Tuesday & Thursday: 18:30–20:00 at Edmondscote Athletics Track
- Sunday: 10:30–11:45 at Edmondscote Athletics Track Winter
- Sundays: Hill sessions at Newbold Comyn
Christine McAleenan
Sprint Coach · 200m–400m
Christine brings the perspective of an experienced 400m and 400m hurdles athlete to her coaching. Her group focuses primarily on 300m and 400m, though athletes competing over 200m are very welcome.
Athletes join Christine’s group when they are old enough to compete at 300m or 400m distance. Her first-hand knowledge of the physical and technical demands of the longer sprints gives her athletes a genuine understanding of what it takes to perform at this level.
“I have first-hand knowledge of 400m and 400m hurdles as an ex-athlete. My focus is on 300m and 400m but those wishing to compete over 200m are very welcome in the group.”
Training:
- Tuesday & Thursday: 18:30–20:00 at Edmondscote Athletics Track
- Sunday: 10:00–11:30 at Edmondscote Athletics Track

What to expect from sprint training
Technical from the Start Every session includes warm-up, sprint drills and block starts. Technical development is central to sprint training at Leamington C&AC — building correct mechanics early makes the difference at every level of competition.
Planned and Purposeful Sessions are planned around the athletics calendar. Expect a mix of shorter sprint work and longer runs throughout the year, with the balance shifting as the track season approaches and cross country season arrives.
All Abilities from Age 13 No prior experience is required. New athletes join on a four week trial to establish whether the group’s demands are a good fit. Both groups welcome athletes from age 13 upwards through to senior and masters level.
Year Round Training Sprint training continues through the winter with hill sessions at Newbold Comyn complementing track work. Indoor competitions are available during the winter months, keeping athletes race-sharp between outdoor seasons.
Junior Pathway
Junior athletes please note: All U14 athletes joining Leamington C&AC are expected to begin in the U14 Run Jump Throw group coached by Tom Gould before progressing to specialist event groups. This ensures every young athlete develops a strong all-round athletic base before specialising in sprints.
