LC&AC’s coaching team is one of the strongest at any community athletics club in the Midlands — 12 UKA qualified coaches covering every discipline, from sprints and throws to endurance, jumps, pole vault and junior athletics.
Our coaches range from England Athletics National Coach of the Year to current British record holders and coaches whose athletes have competed at Paralympic and Commonwealth Games level. Every coach brings genuine expertise and a passion for developing athletes at every level.

England Athletics National Coach of the Year 2022 Mary leads the LC&AC junior section and her team of coaches. Winner of the England Athletics National Coach of the Year Award 2022 — the highest coaching honour in English athletics — Mary has developed the junior section into one of the most respected in Warwickshire. Tom Gould
Junior Coach · U14 Run Jump Throw
Tom coaches the U14 Run Jump Throw group — the foundation stage of the LC&AC junior pathway. All U14 athletes joining the club begin their journey with Tom’s group, developing the all-round athletic base that underpins everything that follows. Tom also leads the junior endurance group on Tuesday evenings.

David Ashbourne
Lead Throws Coach · Club Chair
David founded the LC&AC throws group in 2014 after identifying a gap in the club’s provision for field event athletes. A UKA Event Group Throws coach, three of his athletes have represented Warwickshire at the English Schools Track & Field Championships in Birmingham. David also serves as Club Chair.
